Ratchet & Clank Collection Trailer with Release Dates

So back in March, Insomniac CEO Ted Price confirmed that the Ratchet & Clank Trilogy was headed to the PlayStation 3 and packing Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal. This is a pretty sick pack if you ask me. When will it come out? That’s sort of a mystery with Ted only saying Europe would get the game first and North America in the fall.

Today, over on the UK PlayStation Blog, PlayStation confirmed that the game has gone gold (meaning retail copies can be pressed) along with European release dates. Europe gets the game on June 27th, Australia and New Zealand on June 28th, and the UK and Ireland on June 29th. This information was brought to you by IGN and was pointed all out by IGN reader Excalibur0123.

There is still no word on an actual date, GameStop however says September 1st. In the meantime you can enjoy this Ratchet and Clank trailer and look for a possible review next week.

Bioware "Looking at Free-to-Play" for The Old Republic?

As by far one of my favorite games that I have yet to play, Star Wars The Old Republic may adapt a free-to-play version according to lead technical designer Emmanuel Lusinchi.

In a recent interview with gamestm, Lusinchi admits that Bioware acknowledges the need to adapt in the increasingly overpopulated MMO genre.

He said, “The MMO market is very dynamic and we need to be dynamic as well.  Unless people are happy with what they have, they are constantly demanding updates, new modes and situations.”

He goes on to say, “So we are looking at free-to-play but I can’t tell you in much detail. We have to be flexible and adapt to what is going on.”

The Old Republic has been having trouble with falling subscriber numbers and staff layoffs resulting in speculation about the games future. When interviewed by gaming website IGN, Emmanuel revealed that Bioware is still committed to making the game the best that it can be.

From an article on IGN, Emmanuel states “I think it’s more than the free-to-play model – it’s more that there is a lot of competitive offers,” Lusinchi claims. “If it was just free-to-play games and they weren’t very good it wouldn’t even be a question but there are definitely good games out there and good games coming out, so of course all of this competition impacts your plan with what you want to do.”

I personally think its a great idea to make it free-to-play. It would give the company tons of new players and members to their game and site. Information about them taking on this new approach to their game will more than likely be revealed in the coming months. Stay tuned on Muffin Cap to get more news on The Old Republic.
